In long standing classical ballet tradition, only an experienced instructor who is accomplished in their own right, can safely and effectively pass down information to the next generation of dancers. KBA only employs highly trained teachers with abundant professional performance experience, teaching experience and/or college degrees. Additionally, we provide special master classes for upper level students with world class professional guest artists.   The practice and discipline inherent in quality classical ballet training develops impressive concentration levels, superior understanding of commitment, artistry, the propensity for self-expression, exceptional physical fitness, and the noticeable development of cooperation and "awareness-of-others" skills. Studying ballet additionally challenges the mind in that it enhances memorization capacity and sense of self in space – spatial and kinesthetic awareness– thanks to the application of stringing steps together, turning and level changing, reversing and retrograding, all of which can greatly improve dyslexia. And finally, our students understand the satisfaction of reaching long-term goals, a reward not found easily in today's fast-paced world. 

• Our Professional Syllabus
  Learning the art of ballet requires a considerable amount of dedication, time, and practice. This commitment spans several years and an effective syllabus is designed to safely develop the student through years of careful, purposeful training; keeping the long-term progress and overall health of each dancer in mind.
  
  KBA's syllabus is based on the internationally renowned Vaganova Method, a notated and progressive training program that has produced some of the best dancers in the world, including Anna Pavlova, Natalia Makarova, Mikhail Baryshnikov, the legendary choreographer George Balanchine, and professional dancers in virtually every company in the world. The Vaganova Method's codified, scientific approach  makes for injury-free training emphasizing the simultaneous development of both technical proficiency and individual artistry. 

• Multiple Performance and Community Service Opportunities
  What is a gift unless you give it? It is our pleasure to give back to our community with multiple free performances throughout the year at various venues such as retirement homes, the library, the parks and charity events. Upper level students have the opportunity to learn about the joy of giving through dance while also gaining valuable performance experience. A win win!
  
  The ideas and concepts worked on in the classroom become clear and understood in ways that only live performance can stimulate. Therefore, KBA produces an annual Class Concert at the end of each school year. This is a wonderful opportunity for students ages 3 and up to display their yearly progress to friends and family members. 
  
  Additionally, in partnership with the Kansas Ballet Company, our dancers have the opportunity to audition for and participate in mainstage performances on par with those found in other capital cities around the world. In these productions, students will often work with live musicians while sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed professional guest artists. An invaluable life experience for any young person who loves dance!

• Programs for serious AND recreational dancers
  Not interested in the time commitment required for professional training? No problem! Our Open Division is designed especially for students who wish to receive high quality instruction but do not plan to pursue a professional career or college dance scholarship. Less minimum requirements but the same high caliber faculty!
