Level 1 (ages 3-4)
These classes introduce students to movement, music and dance in creative and developmentally appropriate ways. Exercises are given to enhance the development of fine and gross motor skills as children learn important concepts such as rhythm, coordination, balance, spatial relations, perception and memory. The curriculum is carefully designed to gently introduce young students to a structured class setting while still encouraging imaginative play. Essential dance concepts such as marching, hopping, skipping and leaping will be introduced along with a sampling of preliminary ballet positions and terminology. These classes cultivate a love for movement, music and dance in a safe, age appropriate, fun atmosphere.

Level 3 (Minimum age 6)
This class serves as an important bridge between the Young Dancer syllabus and the technically challenging syllabus of the Intermediate Division. Here we introduce the elementary exercises for mastering the placement of the body, arms, legs and head in Classical Ballet. Class time will be divided into 3 sections: Conditioning Exercises, Barre Exercises and Center Work. In order to ease the transition into serious study, a small portion of class time will also be devoted to less structured and more imaginative movements. Students may spend one or two years in Level 3, depending on personal development. Promotion is at the discretion of the Artistic Directors.
BONUS - Tap class add-on option! Students will enhance their dance experience with the added rhythm, coordination and energetic fun of tap class! NEW for 2018- Jazz class option for Level 3 dancers! |
